Almost 52,000 Bitcoin options contracts worth a total of $3 billion are set to expire this Friday, according to data from crypto analytics platform Skew.
Bets have been concentrated in call options above the BTC all-time high, while put options have been increasing in price – indicating an increasingly bearish sentiment.
Some of the change in sentiment may be attributed to a potential US Federal Reserve rate hike, stemming from inflation concerns.
