Bitfinex and Tether have settled with New York Attorney General’s (NYAG’s) office today, paying $18.5 million in penalties.

The lawsuit began in 2019 with the NYAG alleging that the two companies co-mingled funds to cover up $850 million lost to Crypto Capital, a payments processor.

Bitfinex and Tether have neither admitted to or denied any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
