👉 BlackRock Launches Private Trust For Bitcoin Exposure
Asset management giant BlackRock has launched a private trust, which will enable US institutional clients to obtain direct exposure to Bitcoin.
BlackRock made the announcement in a blog post today, citing “substantial interest” in digital assets from its clients as the reason for launching the trust. The post also stated that the firm has been researching areas such as stablecoins, tokenization and permissioned blockchains.
👉 UNCTAD Looks To Ban Banks From Holding Crypto, Tax Transactions
The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is looking introduce restrictions on cryptocurrency – including banning banks from holding crypto – according to three new reports.
The UNCTAD also wants to impose higher taxes on crypto transactions, reduce crypto advertising and require exchanges and wallets to register with regulators.
👉 Ethereum Developers Suggest Tentative Dates For “The Merge”
Ethereum developers have discussed tentative dates for the long-awaited Merge to take place, with two major upgrades to occur on September 6 and September 15.
The initial “Bellatrix” upgrade will target September 6, while the actual transition to the new network will occur following the “Paris” upgrade – which will only be enacted once the network’s hash rate reaches a safe total terminal difficulty.
