According to RBC Capital Markets Analysts, The People’s Bank of China has sped up its development of a central bank digital currency.

The motivation is said to have come from the stifled efforts of Facebook’s Libra project, which may better position China’s cryptocurrency to become the default digital currency in emerging economies.
