👉 Coinbase Pays $6.5M Penalty Over Wash Trading & More

Coinbase has settled with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), over allegations of wash trading, inaccurate reporting and more.

The CFTC claims that between 2015 and 2018, Coinbase “recklessly delivered false, misleading, or inaccurate reports concerning transactions in digital assets”.

There were also allegations of wash-trading in Litecoin (LTC) markets during August and September of 2016.

👉 FATF Draft Guidance Highlights DeFi and NFT Sectors

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has released new draft guidance on cryptocurrencies, which gives acknowledgement to decentralized finance (DeFi) and NFTs.

The FATF claims that entities involved with DeFi DApps may now be considered  virtual asset service providers, which may have to meet anti-money laundering requirements.

One particular phrase was also modified from mentioning “fungible” assets to instead mention assets that are “convertible and interchangeable” – now including NFT tokens.
