Today is a quiet day in the cryptocurrency space, both in terms of market action and news stories. Starting with the former, the vast majority of cryptocurrencies — including market leaders Bitcoin and Ethereum — are up 2 or 3% today.
Other than that, there’s really not much to note. Yesterday’s big gainers, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin, are however suffering small corrections of 3% and 1.5% respectively.

Coinbase releasing newbie resources
Coinbase is one of the world’s most popular fiat-crypto exchanges, and as such it plays a large role in determining the first impressions of new cryptocurrency investors, traders, and users.
The exchange has just published a Medium post entitled “Helping People Understand, Explore and Buy Cryptocurrency”, which details resources they are releasing to help the general public invest in and learn about a range of digital assets.
Ripple commits $100m to social giving
XRP, or Ripple, is the third biggest cryptocurrency by market cap. That whopping market cap, equating to over $21 billion, has allowed holders and the Ripple foundation itself to do some impressive things.
In the latest of these is Ripple’s Social Giving program, which will feature them distributing over $100 million to a variety of social causes and programs.
IOTA demonstrates car insurance use case
IOTA’s a unique cryptocurrency in the technology it’s built on, but also in the impressive pace with which it’s picking up real world applications.
The latest of these was presented yesterday, and allows car owners to automatically switch between a range of car insurances, paid per unit time in IOTA, depending on their driving style.
