El Salvador’s Legislative Assembly is evaluating a draft bill that would regulate digital securities – a sign that the country is moving forward with issuing Bitcoin-backed bonds.

The bill looks to create a National Digital Assets Commission that would oversee digital asset issuers, service providers and parties involved in the public offerings of digital securities.

President Nayib Bukele had previously revealed plans to raise $1 billion through Bitcoin-backed bonds, however the process was delayed from its planned target date in March of this year.
