👉 Indonesia Plans To Launch National Crypto Exchange
Indonesia is looking to launch a national cryptocurrency exchange in 2023, despite it being a banned payment method in the country.
Crypto assets are currently looked over by “Bappebti”, Indonesia’s Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency – however this role will be soon taken over by the country’s Financial Services Authority.
Indonesia has recently become more active in crypto and crypto regulation, publishing a report and plan to launch a central bank digital currency in 2021.
👉 Coinbase To Pay $50M Fine To NYDFS For Violating AML Laws
Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange, has agreed to pay a $50 million fine to the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) for violating anti-money laundering laws.
The NYDFS found that Coinbase had failed to properly conduct background checks on its users and had insufficient compliance policies in place. As part of the settlement, Coinbase will also invest $50 million over the next two years to improve its compliance program.
👉 UK National Crime Agency To Set Up Crypto Unit
The National Crime Agency (NCA) in the UK is forming a new unit called the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) Crypto Cell to proactively investigate cryptocurrency crime.
The unit will be composed of five officers and will support existing and new investigations that require specialist cryptocurrency experience. The NCA stated that the formation of this unit indicates an increased focus on policing cryptocurrency assets.
