👉 Libra Blockchain Spin-Off Aptos Goes Live
Aptos, a blockchain built by former Facebook employees that worked on Libra, has announced the launch of its mainnet today.
The Aptos blockchain raised $150 million in July and has its own coding language called Move, which is intended to be more user-friendly for developers.
User transactions on the network are expected to begin tomorrow, along with the trading of Aptos’ native token (APT) opening on several major exchanges.
👉 EU Countries May Block Crypto Mining To Save Power In Winter
The European Commission says that EU member states must prepare to stop crypto mining over the winter, if load-shedding is required in electricity systems.
The EU is also developing an energy-efficiency label for blockchains, along with data centers and computers – a move that may punish Proof-of-Work networks but benefit Proof-of-Stake.
👉 Ethereum Launches New Testnet For Shanghai Upgrade
The Ethereum Foundation has announced the launch of a new test network called “Shangdong” – a testing ground for updates that will be included in the eventual Shanghai network upgrade.
Shanghai is expected to launch by September 2023 at the latest and will enable the withdrawal of staked Ether, along with other network upgrades.
