👉 Facebook may delay Libra launch

Libra is Facebook’s cryptocurrency project that has garnered much of the wrong attention from governments, individuals, and media sources around the world. The currency was originally set to be released in 2020.

When questioned about whether Facebook still planned to meet its 2020 deadline, Mark Zuckerberg — founder and CEO of the tech giant — showed signs of doubt. He said:

“Obviously we want to move forward at some point soon [and] not have this take many years to roll out, but right now I’m really focused on making sure that we do this well.”

👉 Venezuela to consider adding BTC, ETH to reserves

Venezuela is a South American country in economic turmoil. The economy’s hyperinflationary climate has lead to great interest in cryptocurrency, among both the country’s citizens and government.

Venezuela’s Central Bank will consider adding Bitcoin and Ethereum to its reserves, in the hope that this will allow the state’s gas and oil company to better interact with business partners and clients following US sanctions.

👉 CashApp continues to promote Bitcoin

CashApp is a mobile payment application created by Square, the well-known financial services company. Early last year, the application added Bitcoin support.

The app’s Instagram page has continued to promote Bitcoin with numerous dedicated posts and giveaways, showing the company is keen to grow that side of its business.
