👉 MetaMask Out-Of-Order For Many Users Due To Infura Outage

MetaMask was out-of-order for a majority of users this morning, due to infrastructure provider Infura experiencing a service outage.

The outage resulted in a sharp plummet in Ethereum gas fees during the outage, as MetaMask-reliant users were largely unable to interact with the blockchain. Fees fell from around 100 gwei to just 20 gwei for instant transactions.

Infura provides MetaMask’s default remote procedure call (RPC), which serves as an interface for the wallet to interact with Ethereum. The outage was announced as resolved as of around 12:30pm ET.

Stripe, the crypto payments processor, has announced that it will enable customers to perform pay-outs in USD Coin (USDC) via Ethereum scaling solution Polygon.

Twitter will be the first company to leverage the feature, allowing content creators to collect payments in USDC for monetization products including Ticketed Spaces and Super Follows.
