👉 Mt. Gox Trustee Sets January Deadline For Repayment Selection
Mt. Gox trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi has given creditors until January 10 to register and select a repayment method for funds recovered for the defunct exchange.
Creditors will need to fill out an online rehabilitation claim form and choose to be reimbursed via bank remittance, fund transfer service provider, or a cryptocurrency exchange or custodian.
The Mt. Gox exchange collapsed in 2014, after insolvency issues. It was the largest cryptocurrency exchange at the time.
👉 BNB Halts Chain After $500M Hack, Governance To Decide On Next Steps
BNB Chain is back up and running after being halted by validators yesterday, in response to a hack of more than half a billion dollars worth of BNB from the platform’s cross-chain bridge.
The team says that it will use on-chain governance to decide what to do with the hacked funds – including options to freeze the funds or to “auto-burn” the tokens. There will also be a vote for bounties on catching hackers.
👉 Reserve Bank Of India Publishes Concept Report For CBDC
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has published a 50-page “concept note” on the potential introduction of a central bank digital currency (CBDC), written by the RBI’s Fintech Department.
The central bank says that it will begin a pilot for its CBDC soon, applying to specific use cases. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also announced that a digital rupee would be issued in 2022 or 2023.
