👉 New Zealand Tax Authority Orders Crypto Firms to Share Customer Info

New Zealand’s Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has ordered crypto firms in the country to hand over personal details of their users.

According to the agency, they have requested the information to improve their understanding of the country’s “crypto-asset environment”, to help taxpayers meet their obligations.

The move sparks concern for crypto service users in other countries, with the CEO of one of the companies involved labeling it as a “heartbreaking breach” of privacy.
