👉 Payment Companies Pull Out Of Libra Project
Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, eBay, and others have all followed PayPal’s lead, and withdrawn their support from Facebook’s Libra project.
The payment companies had received letters from US senators just days before, which essentially threatened the firms.
The letters read: “If you take this on, you can expect a high level of scrutiny from regulators not only on Libra-related payment activities, but on all activities”.
👉 Telegram’s Cryptocurrency Project Halted by SEC
The SEC has successfully filed a restraining order on Telegram, halting their cryptocurrency project and the trading of its tokens in the US.
The agency has classified the “Gram” token as a security, and accused the company of running an illegal security offering, violating the Securities act of 1933.
👉 Australian Mint Launches Gold-Backed Token
The Perth Mint (Australia) has launched its own digital token, backed by gold in its vaults.
The “Perth Mint Gold Token” can be physically deliverable to the user’s door, and is convertible to cash using a mobile app.
