👉 Whole Foods to accept cryptocurrency

A major barrier in the adoption of cryptocurrencies has been the inability to easily spend them in everyday retail stores. Many solutions have been put forward, but only a few have come close to success.

Now, thanks to the release of an app called Spedn, users will be able to pay with Bitcoin and three other cryptocurrencies at major retailers including Whole Foods and Nordstrom. The app can be placed against a regular payment terminal, working similarly to Apple Pay.

Bakkt is the Intercontinental Exchange-backed cryptocurrency trading platform. It’s been delayed a few times so far, due to dithering on behalf of US regulators.

Bakkt has set its newest target for launch. The platform hopes to launch by July, with Bitcoin futures trading and custody planned for that time.
